Goodwill NYNJ provides employment services for NJ citizens with disabilities and other barriers
Goodwill Industries of Greater NY and Northern NJ (Goodwill NYNJ) is a nonprofit social enterprise founded in 1915 with a proven record of providing employment opportunities for all. The mission of Goodwill NYNJ is to empower individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment to gain independence through the power of work.
Goodwill NYNJ Double Impact of power of work and sustainable fashion transforms people’s lives. The social enterprise operates thrift retail stores in the NYC metropolitan region fueled by in-kind donations, which translate into employment services for people who are unemployed or underemployed, including individuals with all types of disabilities, mental illness, and anyone with little or no work experience.
As a result of the pandemic, Goodwill NYNJ implemented a hybrid in-person and remote support model to safely provide job placement, training, on-the-job coaching, and retention services for weeks, months, and even years to ensure job-seekers with disabilities and other barriers secure and maintain their jobs.

Goodwill NYNJ expands services for people with disabilities and homeless U.S. veterans in NJ! Effective July 1, 2021, Goodwill NYNJ WIPA (Work Incentives Planning Assistance) Program, now serves people living in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union Counties in NJ. The program provides comprehensive, up to date, and accurate information to people with disabilities so they can enhance their own long-term financial stability and independence. Team members support the employment goals and asset development, and provides accurate and timely work incentives planning and assistance services for people with disabilities.
Goodwill NYNJ now operates a Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program in seven NJ counties: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, and Union. HVRP provides job training and placement, connection to housing, and wraparound supports to homeless veterans or those at risk for homelessness.

|Diagnostic Vocational Evaluation (DVE)||Goodwill is an approved vendor for the NJ Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) to provide short term and long term assessment services designed to provide DVRS counselors with detailed information on individual skills, aptitudes and abilities along with providing viable, realistic recommendations for individual job goals and/or training|
|Community Based Work Evaluations||CBWE is an assessment to determine an individual’s skill level, behaviors, interests, abilities, strengths, barriers, and aptitudes in relation to employment. In addition, it may determine the level of support needed in a competitive integrated work setting. CBWE occurs one-on-one and is completed in an employment setting with the highest level of integration possible and is a tool to assist in identifying vocational goals.|
|Pre ETS Voucher||Pre-ETS services provides one of five core voucher based services that include Job Exploration Counseling, Work-based learning experiences, Counseling on opportunities for enrollment in transition or post-secondary programs, Workplace readiness training, and Instruction in self-advocacy, including peer-mentoring.|
|Summer Pre ETS||Summer Pre-ETS provides Job Exploration Counseling, Work Readiness Training and paid internships designed to provide high school students with disabilities the skills and resources necessary to successfully obtain employment after high school.|
|School to Work||Goodwill provides transition services to local schools including NJ Regional Day School, Roselle High School, and Orange High School. Students participate in basic assessments to determine aptitudes, job shadowing/job sampling in various types of jobs throughout the Goodwill facility and attend Career Education/Soft Skill classes to develop vocational recommendations while gaining in-demand work experience. A schedule of job shadowing/structured learning experiences were developed and students had the opportunity to rotate into several departments including retail/production, janitorial, clerical/reception, e-books, building maintenance and warehouse depending on their interest and skill level.|
|Pre Placement||Goodwill provides customized placements services to adults 18 and over with disabilities across all sectors.|
|Job Coaching||Goodwill provides customized training and supports to assist adults with disabilities with employment retention for 90 days.|
|Long Term Follow Along||Goodwill provides customized training and supports to assist adults with disabilities with employment retention and career advancement.|
|Medicaid Waiver||Goodwill provides supported employment services that includes pre placement, job coaching and long term following along services for adults with developmental disabilities 18 and over.|
|Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program||Goodwill provides case management, wraparound supports, occupational training, apprenticeships, placements and job supports to veterans experiencing homelessness.|
|Community Employment Services||Goodwill provides community based referrals for low income families and individuals with disabilities to connect to career services.|

Day Habilitation focusing on strengthening interpersonal skills, exploring the community, and achieving personalized goals. Goodwill NYNJ offers full and part time options with different tracks focusing on:

All Goodwill team members facilitating program services are provided with “PPE Go Kits”. The kits include masks, hand sanitizers and gloves for staff and consumers in need of PPE. Goodwill also provides android tablets with internet connection to NJ clients to participate in virtual services with our agency. The technology resource allows clients to safely engage in services, adjust to this new normal, learn skills, interview/meet virtually and apply for jobs!!
