Parents Advocate Successfully for an Increase to Early Intervention in the FY’22 Budget
ABCD would like to thank our five parents who, because of their generosity, for five consecutive weeks all 120 of our state legislators took the time to listen to individual stories which conveyed how the life trajectory of a child can be changed through Early Intervention services. We thank them for welcoming us all into their hearts and homes.
We would also like to thank you, the many parents, service recipients, colleagues and friends, who took the time to advocate to prevent the erosion of therapeutic services, that change the life trajectory of infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities. Early Intervention providers, because they effectively had not had a rate increase for 16 years, have been unable to compete with salary levels offered by hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and the 573 public school districts for licensed professional therapists.
Because of you, we won a long hard-fought battle to increase the rate for Early Intervention services.
Because of you, access to Early Intervention’s life altering therapies will remain for those families and children who follow.
