Legislation Moves Forward

The NJ Senate passed S3323 which would make a FY’21 supplemental appropriation of $180 million for social service providers, including day habilitation providers in DD, and early intervention providers in DOH. ABCD thanks Senate President Sweeney and Senator Singleton for sponsoring the legislation and amending it to include early intervention providers, as requested by ABCD.

The Assembly Human Services Committee passed A209 which establishes the Treatment of Persons with Disabilities in Underrepresented Communities Commission. Since the legislation was introduced in 2008, ABCD had been advocating in support and increased our advocacy efforts this past summer in light of the Black Lives Matter movement.

ABCD is very pleased that both of these bills are moving forward in the NJ Legislature.
