Join ABCD

ABCD welcomes social service agencies serving people with complex medical and behavioral developmental disabilities which agree to ABCD’s mission statement to explore the potential of membership. ABCD provides a uniform voice for these agencies at the State policy table.

Member Benefits

  1. Up-to-date information on national and state legislative and executive issues on disability-related initiatives.
  2. Policy analyses on national and state trends that impact people with developmental disabilities.
  3. Representation at the policy table during legislative and administrative policy development and initiation.
  4. Forums for collegial exchange of trends, information, and joint administrative support.
  5. Information and resources to communicate with other community organizations regarding disability and accessibility issues.
  6. Opportunities for increased community awareness about people with multiple disabilities and their needs.
  7. The development and support of innovative responses to the needs of people with disabilities.

Types of Membership

Full Membership

Each designates a representative to be a member of the ABCD Board of Trustees which manages and controls the operation of the alliance. Full Members are members of all Committees and of the DDA, the EIPA if they provide Early Intervention as a service, and the SCA if they provide Support Coordination as a service.

Provisional Membership

Consists of organizations which have elected to evaluate the Full Membership in ABCD. Provisional Members are non-voting members of the Board, Legislative and Policy Committee, Day Program Committee, and Residential Program Committee.

Developmental Disabilities Alliance Membership (DDA)

Consists of non-profit and for-profit providers of services through the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities which provide services to individuals with complex medical and/or neurological developmental disabilities. Members of the DDA may participate in discussions at committee meetings regarding policy issues but may not hold elected office or leadership roles and do not have voting privileges on the Board. The DDA will serve as an advisory to staff and the Board on issues related to services to people with complex physical and neurological developmental disabilities.

Early Intervention Provider Association Membership (EIPA)

Consists of non-profit and for-profit Early Intervention providers through the NJ Department of Health. Members of the EIPA may participate in discussions at committee meetings regarding policy issues but may not hold elected office or leadership roles and do not have voting privileges on the Board. The EIPA will serve as advisory to staff and the Board on issues related to Early Intervention.

Support Coordination Alliance Membership

Consists of non-profit and for-profit Support Coordination providers through the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities. Members of SCA may participate in discussions at committee meetings regarding policy issues but may not hold elected office or leadership roles and do not have voting privileges on the Board. The SCA will serve as advisory to staff and the Board on issues related to Support Coordination.

Associate Membership

Groups which do business with, or, otherwise support, providers and services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Associate Members may not hold elected office or leadership roles and do not have voting privileges.
