Respect and Professionalism is at the Forefront

36% to 53% of small businesses (defined by the US Census Bureau as businesses with revenue ranging from $1 to over $40 million and from 100 to over 1500 employees) are sued every year; 43% of all small businesses are threatened with a lawsuit every year; about 45% of small businesses are currently involved in litigation; and 90% of all businesses experience a lawsuit at some point in their lifespan. Small Business Statistics.Jan 5, 2023. www.zebra.com).  As business, our agencies are tasked with doing everything within their means to limit risk and to keep their programs and services running smoothly.

On January 12, 43 ABCD members joined Epstein, Becker and Green attorney, Maxine (Mickey) Neuhauser, Esq. to learn practical tips for avoiding the most common errors which can potentially result in a lawsuit against an agency. In a nod to retired talk show host David Letterman’s Top 10 Lists, Mickey went through her top 10 mistakes of agencies and staff.   Because of her familiarity with our industry, Mickey’s presentation focused on good supervisory and management practices in addition to administrative policies.  Through Mickey’s extensive experience we learned of the emotions and reasoning behind many lawsuits.  At the close of the virtual 1-hour lunch and learn event, Mickey concluded with
