Steve Cook, the Executive Director and Mike Courtney, Transportation Director of The Arc of Mercer County joined the May DDA meeting to present on “Total Agency Transportation.” Steve discussed how he and his staff were able to reduce the agency’s reliance on Access Link to reduce costs from $42 -$11/trip, reduce the number of agency vans from 9-4 and reduce trip time to 30 minutes. Steve’s model uses the entire agency to provide transportation, integrating the individual into a cost effective and safe transportation infrastructure. Steve generously offered to speak with any interested ABCD member. We have no doubt he will get lots of phone calls. Thanks to Steve Cook and The Arc of Mercer for their incredible work in helping to solve the transportation issue.
