On October 30, 2020, Governor Phil Murphy signed into law, the “Paratransit Services Improvement Act,” establishing a program to adopt paratransit best practices, requiring greater coordination among paratransit service providers, and establishing regional paratransit coordination councils.  The legislation was sponsored by Senator Joseph Cryan (D20) and Assemblyman Roy Freiman (D16).

Each of the six regional councils requires a representative from ABCD. Our thanks to the following ABCD member agencies which will be representing ABCD agencies and the people we serve on the councils

  • NJ Mentor, Region 1 Council which covers the counties of Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem.
  • Durand, Region 2 Council which covers the counties of Burlington, Camden, and Ocean
  • Children’s Center Programs, Region 3 Council which covers the counties of Mercer, Middlesex, and Monmouth
  • Matheny Medical and Education Center, Region 4 which covers the counties of Hunterdon, Sussex, and Warren
  • Our House, Region 5 which covers the counties of Essex, Morris, Somerset, and Union, and

A significant next step in the struggle for civil rights and opportunity.
