ABCD Scores Advocacy Victory: Subcontracting Permitted *

Published On: March 20th, 2019Categories: Advocacy Papers

In March of 2019, after 3 years of advocacy across changing administrations and staff, ABCD was successful in their effort to convince DDD to permit subcontracting of 5 direct services by providers. Specifically, this allows approved DDD Medicaid Providers to subcontract with approved physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, interpreters, and behavior supports who provide billable services and are no employees of the provider agency.

The lifting of this restriction enables providers to manage their business operations in a manner that is more efficient and effective. This is consistent with the understanding that under Fee For Service, providers would have more autonomy in conducting their business.

Our thanks to A.C. Siefreid and the staff of DDD for their efforts in this regard.

*In the winter of 2019, transportation services were added to the list of services permitted to be subcontracted. See Manual for details.
