ABCD has joined with a number of other groups which are asking for your your help in ensuring that all the federal funds for a new Family Support Waiver are reinvested back into the Waiver. Please sign the petition below and let the Governor, Administration and Legislature know that you want all federal funds from this new waiver to be reinvested into Family Support Services. The petition will be presented to the Administration to demonstrate the support for this from the community.
The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) is currently developing a new Medicaid HCBS Waiver. This new “Family Support Waiver” is intended to serve individuals in day programs and those receiving Family Support services (such as respite care, assistive technology, before/after care, etc.), and will bring in federal matching funds for these services. Many family members, advocates and provider organizations have been involved in developing this new waiver.
Currently, approximately $40 million in state-only funds are used for Family Support. The new waiver will ensure that New Jersey receives a 50% federal reimbursement for these services. For the Family Support Waiver to successfully meet the needs of over 27,000 families registered with DDD who are caring for their family member at home, it is critical that the federal funds generated by this waiver be reinvested in the waiver and not used to fill other gaps in the state’s budget.
